FAQ - HVMI Trash and Recycling

Q1.  How often is trash collected on the docks?

A1.  The trash is currently collected 5 days a week.  It is sometimes collected more often during peak season and holidays.

Q2.  Is it my or HVMI’s, responsibility to keep the marina clean?

A2.   It should be the goal of every member to keep the entire area clean and neat.

Q3.  Why isn't it the responsibility of HVMI to keep each slip free of debris?

A3.  Some debris enters and leaves the marina on the tides. Large debris is removed by the Harbour Master when it is seen.  Some debris and foam is a natural occurrence in any body of water.

Q4.  Does the marina have a recycling program?

A4.  Yes, we currently have a trial can recycling container in the marina with a can crusher beside it.  At this time Pender County does not support recycling, and any materials collected would ultimately not be recycled.  Once the County introduces a program, the Board will revisit this issue.
